Antarctic Climate: From ozone to carbon
Contact: Judith Perlwitz (judith.perlwitz@noaa.gov)
This research topic focuses on the role of the stratosphere in the Antarctic climate system. The emphasis is on interactions among the components of the Antarctic climate system (i.e., troposphere-stratosphere coupling, air-sea interactions including the exchange of carbon dioxide, linkages of the cryosphere to atmosphere and ocean) from a whole system perspective. It addresses coupling processes on interannual to multi-decadal time scale and the impact of changes in greenhouse gases and stratospheric ozone.
